HOCKEY POLICY

1. TEAMS
The hockey teams are made up as follows:

  • Girls: U/10, U/11, U/12, open teams which includes U/13 and U/14 girls
  • Boys: one open team which includes boys from U/11 to U/14
  • Mini hockey U/7 to U/9

2 EQUIPMENT

  • Each team has their own kit bag which includes: Balls, beacons and a full goalie kit
  • The coach of each team is in control of the bag and allows players to make use of the equipment at his/her discretion
  • Each coach needs to take inventory of the bag at the beginning and end of each season
  • New equipment is bought as the budget allows

3 DRESS CODE

  • Players may wear clothing of their choice to practice
  • At tournaments players wear: School shorts, school shirts (which are provided by the school), socks (need to be bought from REIBA clothing)
  • Each coach must ensure that the shirts ae washed before the next tournament and at the end of the season
  • First and second teams get clothes for the season
  • The coach must also collect all the shirts at the end of the season
  • Coaches are expected to wear their Nelspruit Primary shirts and jackets with pants of their choice to tournament days

4 LEAGUE AND TOURNAMENTS

  • Nelspruit Primary doe partake in weekly league to be played on the day that fields are available
  • Nelspruit Primary partakes in Saturday festival days
  • The dates and schools we are to participate with are decided at the Annual General Hockey meeting
  • Annually, Nelspruit Primary hosts one festival day
  • All Nelspruit Primary staff are expected to assist on this festival day

5 PRACTICE TIMES

  • The times and frequency of practices is at the discretion of the coach
  • Other sports and cultural activities need to be taken into account when setting up practice times

6 TRIALS AND PROVINCIAL SELECTION

  • U/11 and U/12 players can be put forward for selection. (6 per team)
  • Once players have been chosen to attend provincial trials, it is their parents responsibility to get them there and is on the families own account
  • If a player is selected for the provincial team the school will subsidise the provincial tour for the concerned player

7 LETTERS

  • Players selected to play for the school will receive a letter. The letter must contain the following: venue, time, dress code and tear-off slip
  • No player may go to the tournament if the reply slip has not been returned and signed by a parent or guardian
