Admissions

Administration of Policy

1. The Head of the Department of education determines the admission period and a process of registration for admission to ordinary public schools, in order to enable the admission of learners to take place in a timely and efficient manner.

2. The admission policy of an ordinary public school is determined by the Governing Body of the school in terms of section 5(5) of the South African Schools Act, 1996.
Documents required for application for admission of a learner: (all documentation must be certified by a commissioner of oaths.

2.1 Parents must complete an application form for admission.
2.2When a parent applies for admission of a learner the parent must present an official birth certificate (unabridged). It remains the primary responsibility of the parent to obtain birth certificates for their children.
2.3. In the case of abandoned or orphaned children, who are in Child or Youth Care Centres, a court placement order would be required.

3. Proof of immunisation against the following communicable diseases has to be provided : Polio, measles, tuberculosis, diphtheria, tetanus and hepatitis B.

4. When a learner transfers from one public school to another the principal must complete a transfer card. The transfer card must be produced at the receiving school.

5. A copy of the report from the previous school must be submitted with the transfer card.

6. Proof of residence – in parents name which is not older than 3 months.

7. Copy of each parent’s ID document (if a parent is deceased, a copy of the death certificate). In the case of applicant being the guardian, an official court document to verify legal guardianship.

8. Medical aid card – a copy of front and back.

9. 2 x small ID photos of the child.

10. Copy of ID document of the person responsible for school fees, if that is a third party.

11. Most recent school fee statement.

12. Non-Refundable admin fee.

 

Age Requirements
The admission age: Grade R – 5 turning 6 by 30 June in the year of admission Grade 1 – 6 turning 7 by 30 June in year of admission.

Admission to Nelspruit Primary School is dependent on :

  • Availability of space in Grade applied for.
  • Language set skills i.e. English Home Language and Afrikaans First Additional Language.
  • Live in the feeder zone of the school. Admission of leavers to Nelspruit Primary is subject to verification of address.
